  1980年に海蔵寺の墓地裏山が土砂崩れを起こし、その崩れ落ちた土の中から16点の火葬骨の蔵骨器が発見された。崩れ落ちたのは土だけでありやぐらにあったのではない。瀬戸の四耳壺、水注、常滑壺などで13～14世紀のものである。 1112年（天永3年）の鳥辺野の入口に位置する寺の記録では「左衛門入道堂」「伴入道堂」など人名を付けた堂が境内に48も記録されている。 『吾妻鏡』には「親能亀谷堂」「故親能入道亀谷堂」と書かれているが、同様の墓堂は京の葬地であった鳥辺野にも見える。連署クラスも鎌倉の外の金沢（当時の読みは「かねさわ」）、極楽寺、常磐に別業（私邸）を持ち、多くはその屋敷地内の持仏堂を寺として葬られている。
